Bridging the gap to success

Bridging the gap between where you are and the success you desire and deserve is simple when you know how.
But requires that you know where you are heading, and there was a time when I had no idea. I was head down, doing, working – being busy. Unfortunately, and it was undoubtedly the case for me, when you have no clarity of the end destination, you don’t move forward.
Instead, you remain stuck. Doing your best to look like a graceful swan on the surface while below, you paddle as if your business depended on it – and it does. In this state of doing, you use as much energy standing still as you would moving forward. Except it’s overwhelming, exhausting and frustrating.
Bridging the Gap In Three Steps
Potential clients often arrive at my door exhausted, busy doing but not achieving the results they dream of. Or, as one woman recently said, ‘My ducks are drunk’, which did make me laugh. They are uncertain of what steps to take next and wonder how they can squeeze more time out of their day to do the work they know is necessary.
They arrive with an impact or transformation they want to make and know they can achieve more. Passionate about what they do but lost, sometimes lacking in confidence because of this and craving an easy route. Not necessarily easier because they are not afraid of work; instead, they want to be in flow, creating momentum and on track for celebrating their milestones.
Step One: Claim your future position.
Take a moment to reflect on your definition of success. Identify what truly matters to you rather than being influenced by social media or popular trends. Consider your ideal work partners, clients, the amount of time you want to dedicate to your business, and your desired income.
Don’t settle for just “okay” – think about what you genuinely need and want.
Step Two: Review your present position.
To bridge the gap and improve your business, review what’s working and what’s not and identify the gaps. One effective method is to determine where your business is leaking money. I recently did this and was able to reduce expenses and streamline operations.
Give your business a full health check with your future success in mind.
Step Three: Make decisions from your future position
Doing this is where and how the magic happens because if you make decisions based on today’s current position of the business, you will remain where you are. Instead, think about those incredible clients you want to serve at a higher level and more impactful way. Your clients’ needs and the services and products they yearn for that will enable the transformation they seek and allow them to achieve their goals.
Expand into what is possible.
Bridging the gap is easier than you think.
Yes, it can be scary as you will mostly make changes to your business, and the way you operate. Change how you work and serve your clients. You may need to do what you’ve not done before, been putting off or scared to try, which is where I (or another business coach) come in.
