Bold business decisions don’t have to be loud to be powerful

Bold business decisions don’t have to be dramatic

Let’s kick things off with the truth: bold business decisions aren’t always big, dramatic gestures. You don’t need to quit everything, go viral, or announce a new direction with a bang and a perfectly filtered photo.

Sometimes, bold means doing something differently. Quietly. Bravely. On your terms.

In my own business journey, the boldest shifts haven’t been flashy. They’ve been intentional. And they’ve added up—one brave step at a time—to a business that finally feels aligned with who I am and how I want to work.

Making Bold Business Decisions: Even When It’s Uncomfortable

I once ignored a coach’s advice. (I know. Shocking.) I’d paid good money for that coaching, too. But something in me said: this isn’t right. So I did what felt right for me, and it worked out because I listened to my gut and did what was right for me.

Once upon a time, I also walked away from a membership model that wasn’t quite working. I didn’t realise it at the time, but by turning my back on it and by focusing on my one-to-one clients, I was laying the foundation for what became my Action Focused Results Driven. No grand unveiling, just following my instincts. One decision at a time.

I have increased my pricing many times, and I stopped giving away my workshops for free (because free rarely feels free when it comes to time, energy, and prep). Each move felt slightly uncomfortable, but also necessary, some frustrating and others scary.

What Counts as a Bold Business Decision?

Here’s where we often get stuck: we assume “bold” means big. Loud. Risky. But the truth is, a bold business decision can be as small as a tiny course correction—if it’s aligned with your vision and values.

It could be:

  • Saying no to that ‘thing’ (per person) that drains your energy
  • Taking your new idea and taking the first step, instead of endlessly thinking about it
  • Raising your prices enough to feel like a stretch, but comfortable enough to sell at.
  • Taking a proper day off (and no, checking your emails on the sofa doesn’t count)
  • Deleting that course you bought in 2021 and will never finish (admit it)

The main point is to take action.

No matter how bold an idea is, it means nothing if you never act on it. Unfortunately, simply having good intentions won’t transform your business (though it might fill up your journal). And yes, celebrating with a biscuit and a smug grin still counts as a win. 🍪

Celebrate the Quiet Wins

Not every decision has to be a leap. Some are simply long overdue.

For example, I:

  • Hired a VA (and immediately wished I’d done it six months earlier)
  • Handed over my business tax return (goodbye days lost, hello peace of mind)
  • Ditched the software I wasn’t using but paying for.
  • Streamlined and smoothed the business functions.

They weren’t dramatic. But they were bold for me. And they made everything feel lighter, faster, and more focused.

So, pause for a second. What’s something small you’ve done recently that took courage? That moved you forward, even a little? Now… have you celebrated it?

Take Time to Check Your Direction

In the race to grow, pivot, tweak, and expand, we rarely pause long enough to check where we’re actually heading.

So this is your invitation to stop. Breathe. Reflect.

  • Does your current direction still feel aligned?
  • Have you lost sight of your bigger vision?
  • Are you doing things because they’re right for you, or because someone told you they should be?

Sometimes the boldest thing is simply getting honest with yourself.

Where Are You Holding Yourself Back?

Be honest—what’s that one idea or decision you keep putting off? You know the one. It’s been hanging around your thoughts for weeks or months. It could be small, game-changing, and it might feel a little scary or uncertain. And that’s exactly why it might be the bold business decision you need to make next.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to happen.

Success Comes from Doing It Your Way

I didn’t arrive here by following someone else’s playbook. I built my business through a patchwork of decisions that felt brave, intentional, and yes, occasionally messy. But they were mine. And that’s what I want for you.

Whether it’s a nudge, a tweak, or a complete 180—make it yours. Be bold. Trust your gut. Celebrate the small wins. And never underestimate what a well-timed decision (and a cup of tea) can do for your momentum.
