Build Your Confidence to Grow Your Business

Building business confidence, including the confidence to develop and grow your business, takes time. But you can speed up the process! So, while clarity gives you direction, ‘ confidence’ moves you forward. The challenge? Confidence doesn’t come first—action does.
Too often, we talk ourselves out of our confidence, downplay our skills, second-guess our decisions, and let fear of failure hold us back. We believe to act and take significant business steps, we need to be confident. But confidence is built through action.
But confidence isn’t about doing more or constantly learning more—it’s about trusting ourselves.
It’s about knowing and trusting that we’ve got this, that we can do this, and that instead of waiting to feel ready, we allow ourselves to take the journey, knowing that our confidence will grow along the way. No matter how messy the start.
Speaking of confidence and to prove that I’m no different from you.
Let’s talk about my latest video. I’d be off the charts if the number of false starts, forgotten lines, and awkward pauses measured confidence. It took me multiple attempts to find my rhythm—but that’s the beauty of confidence-building. You don’t start polished; you get there by doing! So, if you’ve ever felt like you’re fumbling your way through business, trust me, you’re in good company.
And why today, I’m sharing Five Ways To Build Confidence in Your Business that will move you from knowing what to do to doing it. These five ways will create shifts to help you show up fully in your business and trust yourself to succeed.
Building confidence in business: 5 ways to flex your confidence muscle
You will notice that they are not about doing more and learning more but about being more of the incredible person you are.
1. Own Your Strengths
Why It Matters: It’s easy to focus on what we lack rather than what we excel at. If you don’t acknowledge your strengths, you’ll always feel like you’re not “ready” to take the next step. Confidence isn’t about knowing everything—it’s about trusting that what you know is valuable. When you recognise and own your unique skills, you stop waiting for permission and start showing up with authority.
2. Reframe Failure as Feedback
Why It Matters: Fear of failure keeps many business owners stuck. But failure is not a sign that you’re not good enough—it’s a sign that you’re learning. The most successful entrepreneurs aren’t the ones who never fail but the ones who keep going, adjusting, and improving. Confidence grows when you stop seeing mistakes as proof you’re incapable and start seeing them as stepping stones toward growth.
3. Align Actions with Your Values
Why It Matters: True confidence comes from alignment. If your actions don’t match your values, it creates internal resistance—you hesitate, second-guess yourself, or feel like an imposter. But confidence becomes effortless when your work aligns with what truly matters to you. You stand taller, speak confidently, and make clear decisions because you believe in your actions.
4. Practice Decision-Making
Why It Matters: Indecision erodes confidence. The more you hesitate, the more challenging decisions become (harder even), and the more you reinforce the belief that you “don’t know enough” or “aren’t ready.” Confidence isn’t about always making the right decision—it’s about trusting yourself to handle the outcome, whatever it is. The more you practice making decisions, the more you prove you’re capable.
5. Surround Yourself with Support
Why It Matters: Confidence isn’t built in isolation. If you’re constantly surrounded by negativity, doubt, or people who don’t understand your vision, your belief in yourself will slowly dissolve. But when you have the right support system—mentors, peers, or coaches—you gain perspective and receive encouragement. Being in a room with confident, action-taking people helps you become one too.
Building confidence in and for your business isn’t something you wait for.
It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s something you build through action and with the support of others. Every small step you take strengthens your belief in yourself.
But remember, confidence is also fragile. If you constantly focus on what you don’t know or haven’t done, you’ll talk yourself out of it. Instead, focus on what you know, what you have achieved, and the steps you have taken. And if you need a little inspiration, check out my video—it may have taken a few (okay, many) takes, but here it is, in all its confidence-building glory!”
