Same storm and SHIT shower
Actually, same ‘bloody’ storm and same ‘different’ boat bobbing and dipping as the storm rages. It feels as if the year has started pretty much the same as the last. Yet now we wear masks and bump fists and elbows.
While I work from home and joke, I’ve been isolating for almost eight years, it’s not funny.
The storm continues to rage
I love a good boat analogy. Perhaps because my father was in the Merchant Navy although not sure what he’d make of this storm. As a child, I remember on one trip looking out from our cabin and over the bow of the ship asking where the sea was. As I finished the sentence a 90-foot wave appeared in front of us and crashed down onto the containers being transported. COVID and 2021 feels a bit like that, you look out with hope and excitement only for a wave to come crashing down.
Perhaps like me, you feel buffeted by the wind. One minute facing the sunshine and the next a storm of epic proportion that drains every ounce of your energy. Although the weather wo/man didn’t mention homeschooling on the horizon or let me know that ‘teaching’ two primary school children at home would be so hard.
Where homeschooling is concerned I feel out of control, it steals my time and results in tornados swirling the house. Leaving me at times broken and wondering ‘what the hell’. All I can say is thank goodness for my amazing husband who no longer works and can at least sit with our son.
The boat remains personal.
Many times last year I said ‘different boat’ because everyone’s experience is personal. Going on to remind clients to be kind to themselves, focus on what they CAN control and encourage them to keep the end in mind.
This is true at any time because life happens, stuff happens, and often, the external environment is out of your control. In 2020 it was my ability to stay focused on my vision that enabled me to keep moving forward, one tiny step at a time. A year in which I also had breast cancer and three operations, in three different hospitals because of COVID (thankfully same amazing consultant and surgeon). My own boat – totally personal to me and finding its way through my storm.
Stay true to your vision no matter what
With clarity of your vision, you’ve something to head for (in your business boat) – a focus point. This enables you to plan the journey and if necessary slow it down or take an alternative route. Providing you continue to move forward you are staying on track. Realising your dreams one baby step at a time.
It is the vision that allows you to act as if you’ve already arrived and start experiencing the success that you desire and are aiming at. That gives you control and supports you in taking the RIGHT action at the perfect time for you.
Last year proved to me that everything always works out perfectly if you allow it to. A year in which I doubled my profit and I’m in no doubt this was because I strengthened my commitment to the vision; while deepening my connection with the amazing women I want to work with.
Excited about what is possible for me, my clients and YOU in the next twelve months, I hold tight the knowledge that this year can still be all that we desire and want it to be. I remain on a mission to inspire and guide one hundred women (or more) to realise their own dreams without sacrificing evenings, weekends, health and relationships.
