Choose Your Path, Follow Your Formula: Trust Yourself

Choose your path – not the one you think you’re supposed to take or the one loudly recommended by a stranger on Instagram wearing a headset and shouting “scale!” — but the one that fits you: your strengths, lifestyle, and view of success.
And yes, I say that from experience. I’ve done the “follow the expert, copy the formula” routine and chased strategies that promised results but didn’t fit my world, which includes a partially sighted husband, teenagers, and a business to run.
I even and briefly considered whether 5 a.m. yoga and cold showers were the missing link, dismissing that idea in the time it took to boil the kettle. 😆
I wasn’t lazy or lacking discipline. Instead, I needed to stop pushing myself down someone else’s path and build my own. When I finally did, everything started to feel clearer, lighter, and – dare I say – more joyful.
Why One-Size-Fits-All Strategies Don’t Fit Anyone
It’s tempting to believe there’s a blueprint, hoping that if you follow someone else’s “proven” process, success will arrive at your door, beautifully packaged with a bow.
But that assumes your business, life, and energy are the same as theirs. They are not, and they will not be.
When we follow advice that doesn’t match our reality, we disconnect from our instincts and override our wisdom. We stop asking, “What’s right for me?” and start asking, “What am I doing wrong?“
👉 Try this: Look at something you’re doing “because everyone says you should.” Ask: Is this actually helping me, or just stressing me out? What would it look like to trust your judgment instead?
Choose Your Path — and Walk It Proudly
Choosing your path isn’t just about doing something different — it’s about doing something true.
It means backing yourself when the easier option would be to keep blending in. It means letting go of other people’s definitions of success and defining your own — even if it’s not flashy or fast.
Walking your path proudly means being OK with not having all the answers straight away. It’s about learning as you go, making thoughtful choices, and staying connected to why you started this journey in the first place.
👉 Try this: Write down three things that matter most to you in business right now — what you value, what you’re working towards, what makes it feel worth it. Use these as filters for every decision this week.
But What If You Get It Wrong?
Let’s normalise this now: you will get it wrong sometimes.
You’ll launch something that doesn’t sell – hands up, I have. You might follow your gut or instinct to invest in something that wasn’t the learning experience you hoped for – yep, done that. Your social media post didn’t go viral or did for all the wrong reasons; your blog post didn’t create the buzz you thought it would. That’s part of it. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t trust yourself — it means you’re brave enough to try, to show up and be visible.
Every decision gives you data. Every misstep brings insight. And sometimes, those wobbly first tries become the solid foundations you build on later.
👉 Try this: Think of a moment in your business when you believed you’d failed. Now ask: What did that experience teach me? What did I gain, even if it wasn’t the desired result?
This Is What Transformation Looks Like
Transformation isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes, it looks like saying:
- “I don’t want to work weekends anymore.”
- “I love working one-to-one.”
- “I’m going to stop trying to do everything at once.”
It’s the quiet but powerful act of claiming what works for you, even if it doesn’t match the latest trend.
And that’s where real momentum lives—in the space between compromise and courage, in the small, consistent actions that add up over time.
That’s where the magic happens — slowly, steadily, and in a way that’s uniquely yours.
👉 Try this: Choose one area of your business where you’ve been “going with the flow” and ask: Does this feel aligned? If not, take one small step to correct the course this week.
Your Business, Your Way
Here’s what I know for sure: the most powerful business strategy is the one that fits you. It may not be perfectly polished or even colour-coded if that’s not your thing, but it will be yours. Therefore, you will be connected and committed to it.
You can choose your own path and change it as you grow, moving at a pace that suits your season of life. Don’t have to ‘buy’ into the formulas, blueprints, and all that jazz; you can ditch the strategies and processes that don’t work and embrace the ones that do.
You build something sustainable and meaningful when you trust yourself and commit to small, consistent actions. That’s what I want for you and what I believe in.
