The Power of Consistency: How Small Actions Create Big Shifts

Small actions create consistency, which is everything in business. They are how you move forward, one incredible step at a time, and progress toward your goals. The activity that makes all the difference and keeps you visible – fills your pipeline – and builds a consistent income. How you stay focused and productive and avoid distractions.

It is the small actions you sometimes do without thought or have a process or system to achieve and overlook their essential role.

The Challenge of Consistency

At the beginning of your business journey, when you’ve just started, there are fewer parts to manage, and you have more time. However, as you grow, processes and systems must become your best friends; without them, consistency becomes harder.

Consistency is also about balance, which is where those systems help. They prevent you from giving one area of the business more attention than another, such as suddenly putting all your effort into marketing while not paying attention to the sales process—not turning your audience into paying clients.

Plus, stuff happens. Depending on the size of your business, you might find yourself firefighting when a valuable team member resigns, for example. Or, if you are a solopreneur, find yourself focusing on onboarding new clients, meaning the business is growing just as you’d hoped, but find yourself taking your foot off the gas on other actions and activities, e.g. networking, marketing, or even accounting.

Equally, Consistency is NOT

Repeating the same thing and hoping for a different result. Or throwing everything at it and hoping something sticks. Nor is it blocking time in your diary and then scrolling social media instead of focusing on the actions that move the business forward.

It is not emailing everyone who bravely publishes a video on their YouTube channel. Telling them, okay, ME, it’s not optimised. I’m not using the right keywords, and I haven’t done X, Y, or Z, which will end only one way. Me deleting your email or message! (Right with that off my chest… I can continue. 😆)

Why are Small Actions So Powerful

I know from experience that we often don’t recognize the small steps and actions we take. We are too busy looking for the big result, achieving the main aim or goal. We want to rush to the end and cross the finish line.

Sometimes, this is because of fear. If we can get there, we can stop worrying and doubting ourselves. But the power of small actions is incredible. The consistency of these small steps makes the magic happen—they are all part of your journey.

Never underestimate the power of small steps and wins, as these are evidence of your progress.

Examples of Consistency in Action

The Follow-Up: You might have heard the phrase ‘the power is in the follow-up,’ and it’s true. From networking to sales, follow-up is key, and these small actions consistently done turn conversations into opportunities and potential clients into paying clients.

Your Bookkeeping: This one might surprise you, but I have met business owners who hate invoicing for work completed. Others (yes, I have been guilty of this) don’t chase outstanding invoices. But why wouldn’t you? Consistency improves your cash flow, and following a process makes it less icky!

Showing Up: Visibility can be challenging and push you so far out of your comfort zone that it might feel like going to space. So, it’s key to find a way, your way, to show up consistently and in a way that feels good to you.

Inviting Clients to Work with You: Marketing and sales blend if you are a solopreneur, as opposed to a business with a department for each. However, inviting potential clients to work with you is critical; finding your way of doing that is essential to your business growth and success.

The Magic is in The Small Actions Taken

Small actions matter in your business; they are the ones that keep you moving forward with ease. It is how the magic happens for you. And when you find the right balance across the business, the clients and money will flow to you like magic, not quite, but almost! You will leave the feast and famine cycle and experience time freedom. Time you can use to build your business or spend with your loved ones.

Those little actions that you might not have time for or are inconsistent with have the power to create ease and flow in your business. They will help you feel in control of your business instead of it controlling you.

Are you ready to achieve consistency in your business? Here are a few ways I can help.
