How to Drive Your Business Forward: the power of momentum

Drive your business forward using momentum

Have you ever wondered what truly drives a business forward and, more importantly, how to drive your business forward?

Of course, you have. Every time you check out another business owner and ask yourself, ‘How did they create a six-figure business?’ When you look at the posts of others raving about their results, income or marketing success, you wonder. When you search the Internet for answers, looking for the best format to use and the blueprint for X. All the time, you are wondering, seeking out the answers you need.

You are constantly seeking ways to drive your business forward and create momentum.

And in business, momentum is everything.

Momentum is the forward motion you create, pushing an idea into reality and ultimately to success. It keeps you moving toward your goals, ticking off the jobs, tasks, activities, and projects that will drive your business forward.

So, why is creating and experiencing momentum so crucial for your business? Why, at times, does it feel so hard? What even is momentum?

Momentum drives a business forward.

In scientific terms, momentum is forward motion. In business, it is created from small wins (which are too often overlooked – the small victories that become big wins or giant leaps. They are the bedrock of your success because each success builds on the last, driving your business forward.

Then, as your business gains traction, you attract more opportunities, customers, and partnerships – almost like magic. Suddenly, ideas pop, ease is experienced, and you have become a magnet for all you desire. Okay, it might not happen overnight, but it does happen. And while you may still experience ups and downs, business does get easier.

The trick is to become consciously aware of your progress. No matter how small the win, when noticed and celebrated, you will be motivated and energised. This, in turn, fuels further productivity and more wins!

So, how do you build and maintain momentum? How do you drive your business forward?

  1. Decide what success means to you: Clearly define your vision, what you want to achieve, why, and how. Your vision should stretch, excite and motivate you to act.
  2. Set Clear Goals: Define and break your vision into achievable milestones. Breaking it down reduces overwhelm and helps ensure progress.
  3. Celebrate Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate every success, no matter how small. No win is too small not to be celebrated or at least acknowledged.
  4. Stay Focused: Keep your eyes on the prize and avoid distractions. Your vision and goals, broken down into a manageable plan, will help you do this.
  5. Learn and Adapt: Treat setbacks as learning opportunities and adjust accordingly. See these as part of your guidance system helping you to improve, develop and grow.

Finally, remember momentum is not about speed but about sustained forward movement. It is about learning from what works and what doesn’t and adjusting the sails when necessary. It is you leading your business forward.

This leads me neatly to say that YOU are what drives your business forward; YOU are the momentum behind it. You choose where and how you use your time and the projects and activities with the most significant impact. YOU.

Are you driving your business forward or holding it stuck?

I don’t believe there is a magic pill or wand to success, nor should there be, because it’s a beautiful journey of twists and turns without which you wouldn’t arrive. Yes, there are plenty of blueprints and formulas. But a blueprint created by YOU with your vision, needs, goals, and ambitions in mind will drive your business forward.

From experience, I also know that when your business feels stuck, you’ve stopped trusting yourself and started searching for the answers externally. You are choosing NOT to give yourself permission to do business and succeed on your terms, which you can change by making a different choice.
