Reconnect with your goals

Reconnect with your goals.
Goals are for guiding decisions and activities. Yet we become disconnected from them too easily. Often because we are busy, getting on with the daily bump and grind, forgetting what we set out to achieve, what we dream of and desire.
Yet you would have decided upon financial goals at the beginning of the year or your financial year. Then set intentions and determined areas of the business to focus on; and which projects you’d like to give your time to.
So, with the first half of the year done, the summer solstice and longest day of the year gone. What progress are you making towards your annual goals? And I’m using the word progress deliberately because it’s a journey, and you are always making progress whether you realise it or not.
So, where are you at?
Even if your goals were set for a financial year, the halfway point of a year is a perfect time to reconnect with them. It’s a chance to celebrate what you’ve achieved, movement in your business (no matter how slight) and an opportunity to refocus.
This is why I’m sharing with you today four steps to review where you’re at and to get back on track if you’re not where you want to be.
- Remind yourself of the bigger vision or picture – what you are aiming for?
- Imagine your year as if it has already happened – reconnect with your vision.
- Consider your goals in relation to the bigger vision – is there still alignment.
- How or why are you still on track or not – what’s going right or needs your attention.
If you’re reading this at any other time of the year or a year other than 2022, it’s still the perfect time to stop, reflect and review. So, allocate time in your diary to follow the four steps above, and please don’t tell yourself that you don’t have time. Instead, put your CEO pants on, give yourself the time and lead your business to your chosen destination.
Yes, your chosen destination.
Not where your kind meaning Auntie thinks you should be, or your neighbour. And always moving towards that destination in a way that feels good, right for you and your business. So stay true to your journey. Saying this as a reminder to you and me, having recently scrolled through Facebook (other platforms are available) reading do this and don’t do that, then do that but don’t do this. The contradiction continued in my inbox and other platforms, so it’s no surprise that we fall from OUR path.
So, be the CEO that your business needs. Do not get distracted by the shiny objects or the next best thing.
What next?
Well, if you’ve followed the four steps, reminded yourself of the bigger picture, and reconnected with your vision. Then checked in with your goals, looked for misalignment and explored why you are or are not on track. You are ready to get cracking.
Ready to focus your energy and attention where needed and on the activity that will bring your financial goals closer.
Maybe, you’ve remembered abandoned projects or have ideas not implemented because you got busy and lost sight of the bigger picture. If so, fantastic, take the first all-important step or action.
Now, if the disconnect between where you want to be and are, is because you got scared. If, instead of using your goals to guide your decision-making, you have unconsciously chosen to continue in your comfort zone. Know that we’ve all done this, so give yourself a break and decide to move out of your comfort zone by taking incredible action aligned with your goals.
I’m also here to encourage you to move away from any feelings of failure if these come up for you. One, because there are no failings on my watch, only fantastic learning opportunities, and two, because it’s an emotion that holds you stuck. So, let those feelings go, brush them off, then decide where your attention is needed and act.
If following the four steps highlights misalignment in any aspect of your business or leaves you feeling frustrated. Or if the contradiction that surrounds you has created uncertainty. I am here for you. So, if you need help to make those CEO pants a little more comfortable, book a Business Freedom Coaching Call and let me support you to Reconnect and Refocus, and leave the call Re-energised.
