Being BUSY is NOT growing your business
Being busy isn’t doing you any favours, period, as the Americans would say.
Do you ever find yourself in perpetual motion? Are you constantly busy and feeling like there are not enough hours in your day? Perhaps thoughts of a hamster wheel come to mind?
If the answer is YES, then this could be a sign. A sign that you’re busy and NOT in alignment with your vision, which is exactly what I talked about in a recent Masterclass in my Facebook Group. And you can watch that in full here or keep reading for the highlights.
Space is your best friend.
When you’re in perpetual motion, you’re most likely operating your business on a day-to-day basis. Fighting fires and constantly panicking that you won’t have time to get everything done. And in this state, you stop planning your day with your vision in mind. You end up going down rabbit holes and off on tangents, doing this, that, and the other without thinking about the bigger picture.
This is why allowing yourself space each day to plan with your vision in mind is so important. Not just daily but weekly, monthly and annually.
When we step back from the need to do all of the time and give ourselves this space, we can plan with connection. And I say we because I have been there too (and sometimes I still am, more about that a bit later).
What are you focusing on?
It’s time to stop focusing on ‘not enough time’ because when you’re in this mindset, you constantly work from a place of lack. This results in you manifesting more “not enough time” and staying in perpetual motion. This means that any planning you do comes from a place of fear, and you’ll most likely wind up doing more.
Start being consciously aware of what you are doing and whether it feels good to you and right for the business. Stop focusing on what others are doing or whether you should jump on the newest platform or trend to keep up.
Remember, you are the most important person in your business. So you must always do what is right for you, but to do this, you need space to allow the creative solutions to flow.
Take time out.
Some of the best ideas come when we step away and stop thinking. Have you ever had a great lightbulb moment while doing something entirely different? This is because you stopped pushing and enjoyed space for creative thought and receiving inspired ideas.
Recently, I’ve been playing Lego with my son in the afternoons and, at times, have thought I ‘should’ be doing something else. Boom, I’m right back into old beliefs, worrying that I’m not doing enough and that I ‘need’ to be at my desk working, which isn’t true!
I have to work through these thoughts and remind myself that doing is not the answer and that spending time with my son is EXACTLY how I should use my time.
I know this change does not happen with the flick of a switch, but I promise you that allowing yourself the space to be connected will change your belief system. You will no longer be afraid of doing less.
Slow down to experience more.
Decide to get off that hamster wheel. Enjoy physical and mental space for thoughts, ideas and projects, some you’d never have imagined possible before.
Take time today to build a Star Wars Lego spaceship, go for a walk, phone a friend, or bake bread—do something or anything for yourself and let your mind wander.
When the thoughts come flooding, if you need guidance on what this means for you and your business, please reach out and book a Clarity Coaching Call. You can access my diary here, and I can’t wait to hear what juiciness came from the space you allowed yourself to have.
